Early application is encouraged as we are hoping to interview and appoint as soon as possible. School 21 reserves the right to close applications early and make an appointment at any stage.
School 21 is a community where every child is known, seen and heard. Through an education of the Head, Heart and Hand, our students thrive academically and develop the strong character needed to become change-makers in their world and find their voice.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Maths teacher who is excited to join a department focused on continual development, engaged with the challenges of mixed attainment teaching and who is able to teach from KS3 to KS5.
We believe in supporting all students to see Mathematics as a subject for them, so Maths at School 21 is taught in mixed attainment classes throughout Key Stage 3, only moving into sets when the curriculum turns to preparing students for the higher or foundation tiers towards the end of Year 10.
At Key Stage 5, we have a large number of students studying A Level Maths and a group studying Further Maths. While there is a strong commitment to exam skills and success, we also believe in developing problem solving, a desire for challenge and an appreciation for the subject that goes beyond A Level assessment.
Across the department we believe in continual development of ourselves and each other. We work on collaborative planning, with plentiful feedback given, to ensure our curriculum supports all students and we work in groups to develop our classroom craft.
The successful candidate will be:
● Interested in and excited by thinking deeply about how to teach Maths
● A Team Player
● Hardworking
● Effective in communication
● Highly organised
● Clear attention to detail
● Present, punctual and consistent attendance
● Willingness to contribute to the whole school ethos and events
WE OFFER:
• Effective and regular CPD with opportunities to develop your interests within your subject area
• Collaborative working across the 4 to 18 school
• A strong feedback culture so that teachers can develop in areas of their practice that are important to them
• A strong focus on developing oracy as a key pedagogical approach
• A commitment to every student ‘finding their voice’ and being a key part of this vision
