The Job:

The Heights Blackburn seek to appoint a Site Supervisor on a full time and full year contract, to start as soon as possible.


What does this job do?

Under the general guidance of the Headteacher/School Business Manager contribute to the smooth running of the school by carrying out a range of duties to the agreed quality standards, including security and supervision of the site and related equipment, and other site duties including porterage, cleaning and maintenance including monitoring of contract cleaning work. The emphasis of this post will focus on school maintenance and supervision, legal safety compliance checks and DIY activities. The balance of duties will be determined by the needs of the school.


What are the job requirements?

  • Competent with general maintenance/DIY including painting, joinery and repair
  • Site Supervisor’s Skill Course (CITB) or Caretaking Course (NVQ)
  • Recognised Trade Qualification (i.e. joinery, plumbing, plastering, building etc
  • Willingness to undertake training
  • CSCS card
  • Full clean driving licence


About The Heights, Blackburn

The Heights is a Key Stage 2 - Key Stage 4 Alternative Provision School for young people, many of whom have found it difficult to be successful in a mainstream school.


We are very proud of the provision we offer and work in close partnership with local schools, the local authority, external agencies and parents/carers to deliver highly personalised learning programmes.


At Key Stage 2 & 3, the focus is on supporting young people to return to a mainstream school. At Key Stage 4, we focus on providing the opportunity for students to gain qualifications on par with mainstream schools and with the skills needed to ensure a successful transition to college, training or employment.


Pupils are taught in small groups, where they study the core curriculum and receive the extra support they require. Students are then able to make good progress as staff can ensure that learning is tailored to individual student needs.

Many of the young people who attend The Heights, arrive here at a difficult period in their lives. We aim to ensure that we give them the necessary support to improve their confidence, self-esteem and enable them to become successful learners in school and prepared for their future working lives.
