Birley Primary Academy, part of L.E.A.D Academy Trust are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our EYFS Nursery team. This is an exciting opportunity to support children aged 2–4 years in a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.

Working alongside our Early Years team, you will help deliver high-quality learning experiences through play, support children's development, and contribute to their wellbeing and progress.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support children's learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Work with individuals and small groups to promote learning and independence.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging activities and learning experiences.
  • Help create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment.
  • Support children's personal, social and emotional development.
  • Observe and record children's progress and share information with teaching staff.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Support children's welfare, including personal care where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for all children.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds a relevant Level 2 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification.
  • Has experience working with young children in a nursery, preschool or school setting.
  • Has a good understanding of the EYFS framework.
  • Is patient, caring and enthusiastic.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Qualifications

Good qualifications in both English and Mathsessential
TA2 qualification or equivalent or relevant experienceessential
Current First Aid qualification (or willing to work towards)desirable

Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures that contribute to the maintenance of pupil safety and security essential
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols essential
Ability to organise classroom resources and assist with the maintenance of pupil records essential
Knowledge of Teaching Assistants’ contribution to raising standards by the promotion of independent learningessential
Understanding and awareness of individual needs and ability to adjust communication methods accordingly essential
Developed communication skills, both orally and in writing essential
ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues essential
Initiative in dealing with day to day issues essential
Ability to contribute to the planning and delivery of learning activitiesessential
Knowledge of stages of child development and individual needsessential
Relevant experience of building positive relationships with all stakeholdersessential
Knowledge of appropriate behaviour management practices
Knowledge and understanding of pupil assessment, progress, evaluation and reporting of attainment
Awareness of techniques necessary to support individual learning needs and development
Proven experience of working with children and young people, including children with individual needs and from a range of backgrounds

Experience

Experience of working with children or young people with SENDessential
Direct experience of working with pupils to raise attainment through personal intervention
Understanding the role of parents/carers and the wider community in education
