This statement is at the heart of the John Taylor story; it is a compelling story, and one which we hope you will wish to experience.

The Trust was founded in 2014, in John Taylor High School – an outstanding secondary school in Barton-Under-Needwood, and the first in Staffordshire to convert to become an Academy.

We have grown steadily over time and currently serve 14 infant/primary schools, and 7 secondary schools, primarily in Staffordshire but with a few in Derbyshire also. John Taylor Training which encompasses the John Taylor Teaching School Hub, John Taylor SCITT (Initial Teaching Training) and Staffordshire Research School are also key parts of our Trust.

We are proud to have a strong Free School programme; we opened John Taylor Free School in September 2018, Fradley Park Primary & Nursery School in September 2022, and Branston Locks Primary & Nursery School in September 2024. We were delighted to open the secondary phase of Staffordshire’s first all-through school, Rugeley John Taylor School in September 2025, and are working to welcome our first Nursery and Reception pupils into the brand new primary phase in September 2026.

Our values are important to us and in all that we do, individually and collectively, we endeavour to focus on six main attributes that will enable us to be successful. We look for these in candidates applying for jobs too.

We have a passion for excellence demonstrated by a broad curriculum and high-quality leadership. We work hard to create collaboration across the Trust, and the Central Team reside in one of our schools, to remain grounded in school life.
