St Alphonsus Catholic Primary School

St Alphonsus’ Catholic Primary School is situated in North Ormesby, East Middlesbrough. The school serves the parish of St Alphonsus’ which is situated a short distance from the school. 

As a Catholic school, we place Christ at the centre of learning and encourage children to be the very best they can be by growing, learning and loving in a safe and secure way. We are dedicated to working together with key stakeholders to develop children’s spiritual, academic, social and emotional progress. We encourage pupils to try new things, be creative, resilient, have high aspirations and to constantly strive to improve.

Our vision is based upon developing each member of our community so everyone reaches their full potential.

We will do this by:

• Enriching the children’s understanding and nurturing of their Catholic faith.
• Providing an environment which fosters close partnership with parents/carers and the St Alphonsus’ parish community.
• Promoting the dignity and self esteem of everyone in the school.
• Developing in each individual: respect, care and tolerance for one another.
• Providing a curriculum in line with the distinctive nature of Catholic education and one which meets National Curriculum requirements.
• Meeting the spiritual, academic, physical, social, moral and cultural needs of all pupils to enable them to reach their full potential and to be the best they can be

The school underwent a Section 48 RE Inspection on 8th and 9th June 2023 conducted by Diocesan Inspectors. The main findings showed that, “The school is a sanctuary; it is a genuine Christ centred community where all are welcomed…..Despite the school being in a highly socially and economically deprived area all staff have high expectations, and this is clearly evident through the high standards of behaviour and attitudes of all members of the school community. ”

The schools OFSTED report in May 2024 states that, “Pupils at St Alphonsus’ are exceptionally polite, kind and caring. This is a very inclusive school. Pupils are tolerant and accepting of others. They enjoy coming to school and attend well.”
