At De Lacy Primary School, we strive to provide our pupils with a safe and caring school environment, which enables them to be the best they can be. Our school sits within a close community with Pontefract, and we are proud of the links and positive relationships we have with our parents. Headteacher, Mr James Parkinson, is a Silver Winner for Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School in the 2025 National Teaching Awards.

De Lacy was graded 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted following an inspection in April 2024.

2025 Edurio Staff Survey

Pontefract Academies Trust has been recognised with the Trust Value Award – Excellence in the 2025 Edurio Awards – placing us among the top 10 performing trusts nationally, based on staff feedback.

De Lacy Primary School received fantastic results in the survey, with 95% of staff saying they would recommend the school as a good place to work. This surpasses both the Trust benchmark of 85% and the national benchmark of 73%.

98% of staff also shared that they would recommend De Lacy Primary School to parents as a good place for their children to study.

We are proud to have won a regional award for the Trust Benefit School Award. This award recognises the school in each region whose community is most confident that being part of their Trust is beneficial, recognising excellence at the school level.
