The Avon Valley School & Performing Arts College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join our friendly and supportive learning support team.
In this role, you will work closely with classroom teachers with a range of learning activities, including small group and one-to-one support, and provide valuable help to students with SEN and behavioural needs. Your presence will make a tangible difference every day.

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
- In-Class Support: Assist students with their learning activities, helping them understand instructions and stay focused on tasks;
- Resource Preparation: Help teachers prepare learning materials, displays, and resources tailored to students' needs;
- Inclusion: Foster an inclusive environment, ensuring students with additional needs are fully integrated into classroom activities;
- Progress Monitoring: Observe student progress and provide constructive feedback to the classroom teacher to help track development;
- Behaviour Management: Support the school’s behaviour policy by promoting positive behaviour, focus, and emotional well-being;
- Supervision: Assist with the supervision of students during non-structured times, such as break or lunch times, ensuring a safe environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications: A good understanding of maths and English (GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent desirable);
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff alike;
- Attributes: Resilience, patience, a good sense of humour, and a flexible "can-do" attitude;
- Teamwork: The ability to work productively as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
- Experience: Previous experience working with young people (in a voluntary or paid capacity) is an advantage, but comprehensive training will be provided.
