Purpose of role:
To lead a small team of two other family support workers.
BE responsible for providing professional supervision and specialist advice and support to a multidisciplinary team,
To work with and support families that are identified as requiring targeted Family support or help alongside children's social care. The role engages children and families with complex circumstances and carry-out comprehensive assessment and planning working in partnership with the families.
Key accountabilities:
- To lead the team of family support workers and directly oversee and supervise caseloads
- To support the DSL/ DHT with line management of the Family support workers and paraprofessionals, carrying out quality assurance and supporting with performance management, target setting and reviews.
- Provide leadership to ensure statutory requirements are met by the team and work closely with the DSL/DHT and AHT to support and challenge practice in school and in other agencies.
- Ensure that statutory deadlines are met, and that statutory work is of a high quality and complies with practice standards and expectations.
- Manage individual time allocations of practitioners in the team to ensure that the team are delivering an excellent standard of support.
- To work alongside the DSL to complete Safeguarding Audits and develop Safeguarding strategy.
- To work closely with other pastoral leads including Attendance and Relational Practice in a transdisciplinary way to ensure best outcomes for pupils.
- To support the AHT and DDSL for operational safeguarding by ensuring a co-ordinated response to Safeguarding cause for concerns.
- Provide expert knowledge of Safeguarding practice and legislation to colleagues.
- To be a deputy designated safeguarding lead, responding to cause for concerns and managing the pupil welfare tracker ensuring that safeguarding records are up to date and information is transferred in a timely way.
- To write reports and attend Child protection/ Child in Need meetings.
- To undertake AIMS training and complete AIMS checklists.
- To attend and support multi-agency planning meetings including: RAMPs and WRAMPS.
- Carry out in depth and comprehensive assessments for children and families that have early help needs.
- To support and help develop parent and community partnerships with school including planning and organising coffee mornings and workshops.
- To provide ‘whole family’ direct work and support using methodological approaches and evidence-based intervention. This includes effecting first and second order change to enable long lasting change.
- Ensure all administration work pertaining to safeguarding and Early Help is completed to a high standard with accuracy.
- To engage and work in partnership with other professionals involved with the children and families to deliver tailored intervention that makes a positive difference.
- To understand and work within legal frameworks, policies and procedures appropriate to children and families.
- Improve attendance and behaviour; reducing exclusions; promoting inclusion and removing barriers to achievement for students with SEND..
- To work with children and families in a statutory, or in an early help arena.
- To lead timely advice giving, referral and/or duty processes so that children and families are supported at the right level. This may include acting as a first point of contact.
- To lead comprehensive, holistic and strengths-based assessment of need where complexity of needs is apparent, and devise and implement appropriate plans for babies, children, young people and families.
- To attend Extended Leadership meeting,to ensure that Safeguarding and Early Help information is disseminated throughout school
- To ensure the appropriate participation of children and families in their own assessment, plans and reviews and to respond appropriately to non-engagement.
- To case hold children and families and co-ordinate multi-agency support and meetings to deliver tailored to targeted family support or family help.
- To arrange and chair professional meetings and reviews with the family at the heart, on a regular basis to track and show progress, including children, young people and families and partner agencies as appropriate.
- To maintain comprehensive, accurate and up to date records using identified electronic systems and equipment.
- To write reports as required.
