Your Role

Thank you for your interest in applying for the role of Deputy Headteacher - Curriculum, Teaching  and Staff Development at Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent. I am delighted that you are interested  in joining us at such a crucial point in our evolution. This role has arisen because of the promotion of the current exceptional incumbent to Headship at another of our Trust academies. This is a rare opportunity to take on the role of Deputy  Headteacher and have a real impact on the life chances of our community.  With a PAN of 270 in each year group, we are a large secondary academy serving Tunstall in the north of Stoke-on-Trent. We are routinely over-subscribed and the school of choice for our  community. This really matters. As a founder member of the Co-op Academies Trust our mission  is to work in the service of making sure our community has the very best academy, so that our  young people can overcome disadvantage to achieve success.

Working with the Headteacher, the Deputy Headteacher Curriculum, Teaching and Staff Development will  be the key strategic lead for delivering the highest standards of pedagogy, practice and staff  development; the postholder will be accountable for ensuring the Academy is well positioned to be  judged at least at the “strong standard” in this area. The post-holder will be expected to contribute  substantially to strategic planning, whole-Academy evaluation, quality assurance, and ensure there is a  proactive response to emerging needs and priorities. Equally, the post-holder will be expected to scan  the horizon and position the Academy successfully to manage both statutory changes and evolutions in  sector thinking. Furthermore, the post-holder will be the strategic lead for all areas of staff development  and improvement, both teaching and support staff. This role will ensure students receive an education,  and leave the Academy with exceptional outcomes and best positioned to succeed in their future  learning.
