Your Role

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Parent Engagement Officer on a fixed-term basis until 21 July 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening partnerships between home and school and supporting positive outcomes for students and their families.

The core purpose of the role is to lead and coordinate strategies that enhance parental engagement across the academy, ensuring parents and carers are active partners in their child's education. The successful candidate will develop positive and meaningful relationships with families, support attendance, wellbeing and achievement, and work collaboratively with staff and external agencies to remove barriers to engagement.

The role will also support transition arrangements with feeder primary schools, helping Year 6 pupils and their families make a successful move into secondary education. In addition, the post holder will lead the academy's work towards achieving the Parentkind Silver Award.

The ideal candidate will be approachable, professional, proactive and committed to improving outcomes for children and families. They will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build trusting relationships with parents and carers from a wide range of backgrounds.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Relevant Level 3 qualification in Education, Family Support, Youth Work, Community Engagement, Social Care or a related field.
  2. Degree qualification in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Community Development or a related discipline.
  3. Experience of working with parents, families or young people in an education or community setting.
  4. Experience of building positive partnerships with families and external agencies.
  5. Experience of delivering workshops, events or engagement initiatives.

Remuneration and Working Time

The hours of work required for the role are 15 hours per week, term time plus only (38 weeks per year). 

Annual salary for the Parent Engagement Officer will be in accordance with the Academy’s Support Staff Pay Scale, which for appointment for a full-time post currently involves a salary of up to £25,297 salary (Band 2 Point 11-16), however, actual salary offered will be £8,312 per annum, pro rata equivalent of point 11 including an allowance for holiday pay.
