Your Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher to join our team from 1st September 2025.

City Academy Whitehawk is a vibrant two form entry primary school with a nursery serving our East Brighton community. Our school was judged ‘Good’ with four ‘Outstanding’ judgements (for Early Years provision, Leadership and Management, Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development) in Summer 2024. Since then we have gone from strength to strength and we are proud to report that the children under our care are thriving.

The Assistant Headteacher will lead on delivering and developing our Personal Development offer to ensure children are ‘next stage ready’, as well as leading our Behaviour and Attitudes provision across the school.

We are looking for ambitious candidates with a proven track record of successful leadership, who possess the ability both to inspire and to actively contribute to our continued improvement. We are seeking a passionate colleague who has:

  • a firmly held belief that all children can achieve the highest academic standards
  • a commitment to working in a challenging and rewarding environment
  • a demonstrable ability to lead teams of highly skilled staff
  • the highest expectations for behaviour and attitudes to learning
  • the ability to create and sustain the conditions in which colleagues can continue to deliver outstanding outcomes
  • the ability to use and interpret data with a high level of accuracy in order to drive school improvement
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff and families

In return for your dedication and commitment, we are pleased to offer:

  • a rich and rewarding career
  • outstanding professional development opportunities
  • promotion opportunities as part of the Aurora Academies Trust
  • Aurora Academies Advantage Scheme: a benefits scheme, which includes access to health and well-being resources and support, online GP service, employee assistance programme, cycle to work scheme, discounts to high street shops, and more.

If you wish to discuss the role in more detail please contact Russell Wood, Headteacher at rwood@cawhitehawk.org.uk or on 01273 681377.

Visits to the school are encouraged and we’d love it if you would take a look through the materials on our website for more information: https://caw.brighton-hove.sch.uk.
