About the Role

Are you passionate about helping young people discover their strengths, explore opportunities, and step confidently into their futures? Parklands High School is seeking an inspiring Careers Leader to shape and drive our whole-school careers strategy—ensuring every student, regardless of background, can realise their full potential.

As our Careers Leader, you will be the architect of an outstanding Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme. You’ll lead with creativity, strategy, and a truly student-centred approach—working closely with colleagues, employers, FE/HE providers, and apprenticeship partners to build a dynamic and flexible careers guidance service.

This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys connecting with people, and has a genuine desire to make a lasting impact on the life chances of young people.

  • Lead a high-quality careers programme that engages, informs, and inspires.
  • Provide professional, equitable CEIAG to students from all backgrounds.
  • Build strong partnerships with employers, colleges, universities, and apprenticeship providers.
  • Use data intelligently to monitor impact and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across the school to embed careers across the curriculum.
  • Champion a highly customer-focused approach to careers guidance.
  • Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed at all times.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm (30-minute lunch), with a 30-minute early finish on one weekday. Attendance required at staff briefings on Mondays and Thursdays.

Essential skills and qualities include:

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4+ or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a busy, pressurised office environment
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and IT proficiency
  • Creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to lead, motivate and connect with young people
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, professionalism, and continuous development

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Level 6 qualification in Career Guidance & Development
  • Experience delivering careers programmes or using SIMS
  • Knowledge of FE/HE routes, apprenticeships, Gatsby Benchmarks, or careers legislation
  • Experience working in an educational setting or with external partners
  • Ability to analyse and use data effectively

If you don’t meet every desirable criterion but feel you have the passion and transferable skills—we strongly encourage you to apply.
