Your Role

Birley Spa Primary Academy, part of L.E.A.D. Academy Trust, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our committed team. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development, helping every child to reach their full potential.


Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom, both individually and in small groups
  • Assisting teachers in preparing and delivering engaging lessons
  • Helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and resilience in pupils
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, where required
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and administrative tasks

Qualifications

5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalentessential
TA1 qualification or equivalent or relevant experiencedesirable

Skills

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge

Awareness of/willingness to train to get knowledge and understanding of the Teaching Assistant’s role in supporting teaching and learning across the curriculumessential
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingessential
Ability to provide support for planning and delivery of learning activitiesessential
Skills to support the effective use of ICT in the classroomessential
Ability to organise classroom resources and assist with the maintenance of pupil records essential
ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues essential
Knowledge of appropriate behaviour management practices
Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures that contribute to the maintenance of pupil safety and security
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols

Experience

Ability to use resources and materials including ICT software and equipmentessential
Willingness to work with children and young peopleessential
Experience of working with children or young people with SEND
