Your Role

Red Balloon Norfolk is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to develop and deliver our new Centres therapeutic offering in the role of Senior Therapist. The successful candidate will be qualified to Level 6 or above in one or more therapy modalities, which may include Integrative, CBT, Art or Play Solution Focused Therapy alongside specialised training or experience working with children and adolescents and will possess valuable experience in leading and supporting another on-site therapist/counsellor.


As a key member of the team, you will be confident in being fully integrated and visible within the Centre, being involved in the student process from the point of potential admission. You will be an active part of the collaborative team around the young person and will be involved in day-to-day participation as part of the staff and student community.


With a maximum student number of 20, you will have the opportunity to work with students in small groups and in a 1:1 therapeutic capacity. Some key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Maintain overview of the therapeutic input for all RBET- Norfolk students;
  • Track student progression via tracking tools such as YPCORE10 and/or SDQ for example;
  • Individual caseload oversight and new student allocation;
  • Collaborate with Head of Centre to develop and deliver the Student Wellbeing team strategy;
  • Understand the therapeutic needs of children who may have mental health problems (e.g. anxiety, depression, PTSD), school-related anxieties or refusal, SEN, extremely low academic confidence and self-esteem, and to adjust the therapeutic approach to meet individual student needs;
  • Deliver therapy sessions to students via face-to-face sessions in Centre;
  • Support students in crisis by working in collaboration with the wider team to ensure suitable support is available either externally or via Red Balloon.


To be considered for this role as a minimum you will need:

  • Minimum of Level 6 Clinical/therapeutic qualification as a counsellor, psychologist, social worker, psychotherapist, or family therapist and be accredited or be working towards accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g. BACP, BPS, or UKCP)
  • Experience working with young people and their families
  • Specialised training or experience working with children and adolescent
