Hodgson Academy we are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Receptionist/ Clerical Assistant  to join our thriving department. You will be a professional who is a confident, organised, professional and an approachable communicator that is determined to do their best to help all our students achieve their potential. 

This is a fixed term contract to be reviewed in line with the Academies needs.

A day in your new role could see you: 

  • Reporting in the first instance to, and under the direction of, the Senior Receptionist.
  • Provide an efficient reception service. Handle the majority of queries but as required, refer to the HR/Daily  Operations Manager or other relevant staff. Ensure that any complaints are handled in accordance with agreed academy procedures.
  • Undertake word processing /answering the telephone /clerical tasks for staff at Hodgson Academy.
  • Assist in the provision of hospitality to guests of the academy.
  • Support in the provision of First Aid within the academy. Hold or work towards relevant qualifications. Assist students who are unwell or who require first aid. Contact with parents to be made as necessary along with the summoning of professional assistance if circumstances suggests this is necessary. Ensure all relevant records are kept.
  • Help in the distribution of incoming mail to relevant members of staff. Prepare outgoing mail for posting. Take responsibility for posting such items.
  • Use our management information systems to access student data and relevant information.
  • General filing
  • To participate in the Academy’s in-service training.
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, as may be determined by the HR/Daily Operations Manager.
  • Participate in the Schools Performance Management procedures.


Support other members of our administrative team on an ongoing basis. Depending upon school need this will likely include provision of administrative support to:-

  • our Reprographics Department re printing / copying,
  • our Finance team supporting with the processing and receipt of relevant orders and invoices, collection and processing of monies re trips and charitable activities and other aspects of day to day financial
  • administration
  • members of the school leadership team
