Your Role

Brixington Primary Academy is looking to appoint a SENDCo. The post is a 0.8 part time position.

  

The SENDCo role will be pivotal in leading SEND strategy across the school with the aim to improve provision and outcomes for all SEND learners within the school setting.

We are looking for someone who has high levels of self-organisation, enjoys communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and believes in teamwork and collaboration. We are proud of the inclusive nature of our school and the extent to which this has been celebrated in our recent Ofsted inspection. The successful candidate will work alongside our existing SEND team for 3 to 4 days per week, and will be part of the school's senior leadership team. 

 

The successful applicant will be a passionate leader who is dedicated to making a difference and improving life chances for SEND pupils in every classroom and across the curriculum. We are looking for an individual who is able to work with subject leaders, school leaders, families and wider agencies in a proactive and innovative way to ensure that every pupil has the best learning experience and is best prepared for life after Brixington Primary Academy


The ideal candidate will:

·        Have an exceptional understanding of teaching and learning

·        Demonstrate great leadership

·        Have a strong knowledge of the primary phase curriculum

·        Will be a qualified SENDCO or have relevant experience and be willing to undertake the NPQ SEND

·        Be motivated to make a difference to the life chances on young people with additional needs.

·        Have an excellent understanding of the SEND code of practice 

·        Be committed to the view that children with SEND needs should aspire to flourish and attain high outcomes.

·        Be open to new approaches to learning and teaching

·        Be able to think outside the box

·        Be an excellent team player and believe in strong collaboration

·        Be someone who has high levels of self-organisation, a good communicator and

·        Be committed to working with teachers and adults through mentoring and coaching commitment to working with a wide range of stakeholders
