Your Role

Devonshire Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 4 (TA4) to support the effective delivery of our curriculum and contribute to the smooth running of the school. The successful candidate will fully engage children in their learning and make a positive contribution to the planning and delivery of quality learning experiences by providing cover across all key stages.

This is a temporary position from 05/01/2026 to 31/08/2026, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only. The role is funded for two terms through additional resources.

At Devonshire Primary Academy every child is important and everyone is treated as an individual. We place great emphasis on our ability to provide a secure, caring and welcoming environment in which everyone has pride in themselves and strives to achieve the highest possible standard of learning, behaviour and attitudes. We endeavour to ensure that all children leave our care with a love of education and with the building blocks they need to become confident, life-long learners.

Our curriculum provides a balance of core skills, enriched within a wide range of experiences and opportunities which enable all of our children to succeed, irrespective of circumstance.

Our dedicated staff, parents and governors all work together as a team to make Devonshire Primary Academy the best environment for our children to thrive.

At Devonshire Primary Academy, open methods of communication are well-established so that a shared responsibility for the development of the academy are much in evidence. The candidate appointed will be joining an imaginative and mutually-supportive team where opportunities for professional development are given high priority and where the creative TA4 can contribute to the academy as a whole. We are inviting applications from staff who have, or are working towards, the professional standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistants or a relevant foundation degree. Applicants should be able to demonstrate that they:

  • Have an understanding of high quality adaptive teaching;
  • Have high personal and professional standards;
  • Are able to effectively plan adaptively and implement creative strategies for teaching our children, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and make progress both academically and personally;
  • Have high expectations of themselves and for pupil achievement;
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils;
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills;
  • Have a warm and friendly personality;
  • Are flexible; and
  • Are resilient and embrace school improvement with passion and vigour, knowing that learners are at the heart of everything that we do.

Devonshire Primary Academy is a happy, exciting and productive school with a wealth of opportunities for our children and staff. We can offer you:

  • The chance to be part of a closely connected, dedicated and hardworking staff;
  • A friendly and supportive whole school staff team;
  • Opportunities for professional development;
  • A commitment to reducing staff workload and prioritising staff wellbeing;
  • A consistent, supportive and fair approach to dealing with staff absence, which applies to all employees and covers all types of absence;
  • Term time employment, allowing you to spend school holidays with family;
  • Enrolment into a pension scheme – employees do not pay tax or national insurance on their pension contributions and the school add a generous employer contribution;
  • Free onsite parking;
  • The option to purchase a new bicycle and cycling equipment via salary sacrifice making tax and national insurance savings; and
  • The opportunity to work in a school which is at the heart of its community and always looking for innovative ways to provide the best education.

Visits to the academy are encouraged and have been scheduled for Thursday 11th December 2025 at 9:00am or Friday 12th December 2025 at 3:30pm.  If you wish to visit, please arrange this by emailing admin@devonshire.svt.org.uk and providing your name and telephone number. We would also invite you to peruse our school website: https://www.devonshire.blackpool.sch.uk/ and our Facebook Page: Devonshire Primary Academy to gain an insight into our wonderful school.
