The Department
The Alternative Support Provision (ASP) plays a vital role at Uxbridge high school through supporting students who require a more personalised therapeutic, or specialised approach to learning.
The department provides a structured and aspirational environment for students experiencing SEMH difficulties, behavioural challenges, disengagement from learning, neurodiversity‑related needs, or barriers linked to undiagnosed SEND. The department strived to make sure that each and every student has a smooth integration back into mainstream school.
The Role
The Behaviour Intervention Guidance Leader supports the Alternative Provision and Behaviour Manager and the Alternative Support Lead in providing a high-quality, nurturing and structured environment to support students in returning into mainstream lessons.
These students may have barriers to learning linked to behaviour, SEMH needs, neurodiversity, disengagement, or emerging or undiagnosed SEND. The postholder provides mentoring, behavioural guidance and targeted intervention, helping students to understand their barriers, regulate their emotions, re-engage in learning and maintain consistent routines while they spend time in the AP, before they progress towards reintegration into mainstream classes.
The postholder is responsible to the Alternative Provision and Behaviour Manager and works closely with the Academic Support Lead, Alternative Curriculum Lead, Pastoral Team and SEND staff to create and deliver personalised, holistic support plans that address students' academic, social and emotional needs.
The postholder builds positive relationships with parents and carers through consistent communication about progress and concerns, and attends meetings with families to discuss behaviour, academic progress and reintegration plans. They report concerns and contribute to multi-agency plans, working with agencies such as Educational Psychologists, Social Care, CAMHS and Early Help, and they make sure multi-agency recommendations are built into student support plans.
Please note that the school reserves the right to close this vacancy prior to the stated deadline should a sufficient number of applications be received. Early application is therefore strongly advised.
