The Governors of Sneyd Academy are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, Family Support Worker to join our friendly and professional team. Sneyd Academy are looking for a positive, proactive, empowering individual who will contribute to the Academy’s safeguarding and welfare team. The post holder will implement interventions that will support families and students to achieve their potential. This will include leading early help meetings, carrying out home visits and liaising with external agencies to ensure families have access to the support available. You will have experience of working with families and demonstrating a positive impact, a Level 3 qualification in childcare/education, a good understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures and will have relevant experience of working with a variety of child support agencies. The post holder will need to have a full, clean driving licence and access to a car.


The successful candidate will have the strongest commitment and passion to continue to drive the success of the Academy forward, be a very motivated team player in a highly effective staffing team, be able to demonstrate exemplary primary classroom practice and expect excellence from our children, be a team player and be a strong advocate for change and champion Academy improvement.



The ability to converse at ease with members of the public, including staff and students in accurate spoken English is essential for the post, therefore postholders must be able to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English.

Why Sneyd?

Sneyd Academy is a large inclusive primary academy in the Burslem area of Stoke-on-Trent. It is one of the largest primary academies in the area and has pupils from nursery to year six. The academy dates back to 1901 and whilst it has many modern features, it retains a strong history and pupils benefit from a good Edwardian building. The academy has recently benefited from a significant investment in digital infrastructure. We are fortunate to have large areas of green space, and this has been complimented with the recent addition of an outdoor learning space.
