Your Role

Receptionist (2 Posts)

Following the recent internal promotion of two valued members of our Reception Team, the Directors of Exceed Learning Partnership and Governors of Hall Cross Academy are excited to offer an opportunity for two exceptional individuals to join us in our busy administration team. We are proud of our commitment to developing and retaining talented staff, and these vacancies reflect the career progression opportunities available within Hall Cross Academy and Exceed Learning Partnership.

Hall Cross Academy is part of Exceed Learning Partnership, a Multi Academy Trust comprising Bentley High Street Primary School, Carr Lodge Academy, Edlington Victoria Academy, Hall Cross Academy, Hill Top Academy, Rosedale Primary School, Sandringham Primary School, Sheep Dip Lane Academy, The Mallard Academy and Willow Primary School.

This is an excellent opportunity for exceptional individuals to join a highly successful and rapidly expanding Trust, with opportunities to develop professionally and make a genuine difference to the daily life of the Academy.

About the role

This is far more than a traditional reception role. Our Reception Team is at the heart of the Academy, providing a welcoming and professional service whilst supporting the day-to-day running of a school with over 2,000 students across two sites.

No two days are the same. You will be the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and external agencies, often managing multiple enquiries at once whilst ensuring everyone receives a friendly, professional and efficient service. You'll be supporting staff and students, answering telephone calls, dealing with visitors, managing administrative tasks and helping to keep the Academy running smoothly.

The role also includes providing first aid to students and staff, often reassuring young people who may be anxious or unwell. You will need to remain calm, compassionate and confident in challenging situations. Full First Aid training will be provided if required.

The ability to think on your feet, prioritise effectively and remain composed in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Acting as the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and external agencies.
  2. Operating the Academy switchboard and responding to enquiries professionally and efficiently.
  3. Providing high-quality administrative support across the Academy.
  4. Delivering first aid to students and staff and maintaining accurate medical records.
  5. Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of reception across both Academy sites.

About you

This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service whilst supporting the wellbeing of young people.

Previous experience in a school is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals with experience in busy customer-facing environments such as healthcare, hospitality, retail, local government or office administration who have excellent organisational skills, enjoy working with people and are looking for a rewarding career.

The successful candidate will have:

  1. Excellent ICT skills and confidence using a range of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  2. Outstanding organisational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  3. The ability to multitask, prioritise workloads and work accurately under pressure.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional approach.
  5. A calm, empathetic and reassuring manner when dealing with students, parents and visitors.
  6. The confidence to use initiative and solve problems.
  7. A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues across the wider administration team.
  8. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
