Your Role

The Job:

The Heights School, Burnley seek to appoint a Design Technology & Construction Teacher as soon as possible in a full time permanent position. This role is ideal for someone who believes in giving every young person a second chance and can inspire learners who may have experienced trauma, disrupted education, or social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons in Design Technology (DT) and Construction, fostering practical skills, creativity, confidence, and employability in learners aged 11–16.

What does this job do?

  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher.
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
  • To share and support the School’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.


What are the job requirements?

  • Qualified to at least degree level
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience of teaching preferred subject throughout the Key Stages
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the new National Curriculum in the subject
  • An understanding of the strategies needed to establish consistently high aspirations and academic / behavioural standards and a commitment to relentlessly implementing these strategies.
