About the Role

The Associate Headteacher – Head of Sixth Form will:


  1. Provide professional leadership and management of the Sixth Form
  2. to lead, support and develop a well-established team of tutors and Sixth Form teachers
  3. give strategic direction to all aspects of the leadership and management of Sixth Form
  4. create a positive and challenging environment that encourages high expectations
  5. communicate to, delegate and organise staff well
  6. to act as a role model for colleagues by demonstrating high quality pastoral care and academic monitoring of students, continuous professional development and professional presence in the year team and in the classroom
  7. contributions to the development of school policies
  8. to make a significant contribution to the induction of tutors and teachers
  9. to monitor student achievement using the school's MIS (Arbor) and SISRA/SMID and, in consultation with      key staff, decide on appropriate sanctions, interventions and rewards.
  10. to undertake agreed whole-school responsibilities as directed by the Headteacher, contributing to the strategic leadership and operational effectiveness of the school.
  11. to carry out senior leadership duties, including daily duty, supervision, behaviour support, safeguarding vigilance and visible leadership across the school site.
  12. to line manage agreed key areas, subjects or teams, ensuring effective leadership, clear accountability, high standards and continuous improvement.
  13. to support and challenge subject and area leaders through regular line management meetings, quality assurance, data review and improvement planning.
  14. to contribute to whole-school self-evaluation, school improvement planning and the implementation of agreed strategic priorities.
