West Kirby Educational Trust is Seeking to Appoint a Talented and Dedicated Speech & Language Therapist for Maternity Cover


Closing Date: Monday 23rd February at 9am


Contract: Maternity cover until March 2027, working term time only (44.6 weeks)


Hours: 37 hours per week (part time working possible, with flexibility on working pattern)


Salary: £34,324.16 - £39,670.81 (pt 23 – pt 27)

Role Overview:


West Kirby Educational Trust is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech & Language Therapist to join our dedicated team on a maternity cover basis. You will provide a highly specialised clinical service to children/young people with SCLN, ASC and a range of other special needs in a special school setting.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to make a meaningful difference in a supportive, child-centred environment that values collaboration, creativity and inclusive practice.

Using Autism specific strategies/ approaches essential
Report Writingessential
Carrying out formal and informal assessments, observationsessential
Differential diagnosis; formulation of therapy plans; providing appropriate intervention(s); evaluating outcomes essential
Working with children / young people with receptive and/ or expressive language difficultiesessential
Working with children/ young people with SEN, particularly those on the Autism Spectrum.essential
Experience if working in with Early Years Foundation Stage.
Delivering Training
Working with children/ young people with ADHD anxiety
Joint working with education staff in a classroom environment

Experience/Knowledge

Have an understanding of ASC and possible co-occurring diagnoses.essential
Understand the difficulties of motivating young people with low self-esteem and high anxietyessential
Understand and promote holistic approachessential
Able to provide rationales for interventions from evidence based practice and individual needessential
How SLCN impacts the development of functional skills, independence, life skills – and how this can be supported.
