Mark First and Pre-School CE Academy

The school is a small, welcoming setting situated on the edge of the village of Mark on the Somerset Levels, providing a high-quality education for children aged 2–9. It is a friendly and nurturing school where a strong commitment exists to instilling a love of learning in all pupils within an inclusive environment that encourages every child to reach their full potential.

As part of the Wessex Learning Trust, the school benefits from strong collaboration with local schools, supported by central expertise based in Cheddar. This enables effective partnership working to secure the best outcomes for children, while maintaining the school’s autonomy to serve its local community effectively. The school also has close links with Holy Cross Church in Mark, and its Christian values of Courage, Respect, Enthusiasm, Aspiration, Trust, and Empathy are deeply embedded in daily school life.

Although small in size, the school offers exceptional outdoor learning spaces, including two playgrounds, a large field, an outdoor classroom, and a pond area, all of which are used regularly to enrich learning experiences. It is supported by an active PTA, a committed Partnership Board, and a strong local community, all of which contribute to its vibrant ethos and sense of belonging.
