Academy Operations Administrator

Are you an organised, proactive, and welcoming administrative professional looking to make a real difference in an educational community?

At Co-op Academy Brierley, we are looking for a dedicated Academy Operations Administrator to join our supportive, passionate team.

As the operational heart of the academy, you will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to deliver smooth, high-quality administrative, HR, reception, and daily cover support. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, love dealing with people, and want a role where what you do truly counts, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

In this varied and rewarding role, you will be involved with:

  1. Front of House & Customer Service: Be the welcoming face and voice of the academy—answering enquiries, greeting visitors, and handling main inbox communications with parents and carers.
  2. Daily Cover & Staffing Logistics: Manage day-to-day cover arrangements, deploy supply staff, and liaise with agencies to ensure minimal disruption to learning.
  3. HR & Compliance Administration: Maintain our HR software (SAMpeople), monitor attendance thresholds, collate data for line managers, and manage the Single Central Record (SCR).
  4. Recruitment & Onboarding: Coordinate recruitment up to conditional offer stage, perform pre-employment checks, and oversee induction/leaver processes.
  5. Pupil Support & Welfare: Assist with pupil absence management, first aid/welfare duties, safe arrivals/departures, and lunch service coordination.
  6. Systems & Data: Maintain Arbor MIS records, assist with GDPR compliance, and quality assure internal and external academy communications.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a candidate who is resilient, self-motivated, and committed to high standards.

Essential Requirements:

  1. 5 GCSEs (A*–C / 4–9) in English and Maths, or equivalent.
  2. Previous clerical/administrative experience and strong ICT skills.
  3. Experience communicating effectively with the public both face-to-face and in writing.
  4. Outstanding organisational skills with sharp attention to detail.
  5. A collaborative team player with excellent patience and interpersonal skills.

Why Join Co-op Academies Trust?

You’ll be joining a diverse, cooperative learning community that genuinely values its staff and holds community at its core. We offer an outstanding package of benefits:

  2. 🛒 Co-op Discounts: 10% discount on Co-op branded food, plus increased promotional discount periods throughout the year.
  3. 💰 Financial Security: Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), travel season ticket loans, and pay-deducted savings/loan schemes.
