Your Role

Are you an enthusiastic and ambitious English specialist looking to launch your teaching career in a supportive and truly unique environment? Christ the King College is seeking an ECT of English to join our vibrant and high-performing English Department.

As the only joint Church of England and Catholic secondary college on the Isle of Wight, we provide a distinctive education built on Christian values. Our mission is to support every student in becoming "the best they can possibly be," combining academic excellence with strong pastoral care and spiritual guidance.

The Role This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to grow within a department that values creativity, collaboration, and a love for literature and language. You will:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons across secondary age ranges
  • Inspire students with a passion for reading, writing, and critical thinking.
  • Engage fully in our comprehensive ECT induction programme, supported by a dedicated mentor.
  • Adapt your teaching to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring excellent progress for every student.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the College and uphold our joint-faith ethos.

About You We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • An exceptional classroom practitioner or currently training to be one
  • Passionate about English and able to communicate that energy to students of all abilities.
  • Committed to high professional standards and continuous self-improvement.
  • Sympathetic to the Christian ethos and values of our College community.

What We Offer:

  • A Collaborative Environment: Work alongside experienced specialists in a department known for its support and shared resources.
  • A dedicated ECT Induction Programme: You will receive high-quality mentoring and a reduced timetable to support your professional growth.
  • Professional Development: Access to ongoing training and opportunities to contribute to curriculum initiatives.
  • Career Progression: While this post is focused on an ECT, we value long-term growth and offer development opportunities and whole-school responsibilities for colleagues looking to further their teaching career.

The school has over 1,100 students on roll, including a Sixth Form College of about 200 students. It is a well-established comprehensive school, which is well supported by parents and highly respected in the community.

Our students are very talented, a joy to teach and standards of performance and expectations are very high. We have an outstanding vision for our young people. If you would like to be part of this successful and thriving school and are a well-qualified and highly motivated professional, we would like to hear from you.

Please be aware that we can only accept applications from overseas candidates who have the Right to Work in the UK.
