Your Role

We are looking for a reliable and detail-focused Finance Assistant to join our central finance team. This is a key support role, helping to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations across the Trust and at Durrington High School.

You will play an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting school-based activity and helping to ensure that processes are followed consistently and effectively. This role would suit someone who is organised, has a strong eye for detail and is interested in developing a career in finance within the education sector.

In this role, you will support a range of financial and administrative activities. This includes raising purchase orders, processing invoices, assisting with payments and supporting basic reconciliations. You will also help record income, maintain accurate records and support online purchasing and supplier payments.

A key part of the role involves working closely with school staff. You will assist with income collection, support the administration of school trips and maintain records linked to school funds and activities. You will also respond to queries from staff and suppliers and help ensure that information is clear and up to date.

Alongside this, you will maintain spreadsheets and tracking systems, support filing and audit trails, and contribute to the wider work of the finance team. You will be expected to follow Trust financial procedures at all times, work with professionalism and confidentiality, and contribute to maintaining strong financial controls.

We are looking for someone with good numerical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage their workload effectively. You should have experience in a finance or administrative role and be confident using IT systems, including Excel.

A GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above is essential. An AAT Level 2 qualification, or a willingness to work towards this, would be an advantage. Experience in a school or academy setting is desirable but not essential.

In return, you will be part of a supportive and collaborative team, with the opportunity to develop your skills and gain valuable experience across a range of finance processes within a successful Multi Academy Trust.

Safeguarding Information

Safeguarding – Our Commitment

Keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do. As part of our recruitment process, we take steps to make sure everyone who joins us shares this commitment.

What this means for you:

  • All roles in our schools involve a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • If you’re successful, you’ll need to complete some pre-employment checks, such as an enhanced DBS check and verifying your right to work in the UK. We’ll explain these clearly and guide you through the process.
  • During the interview, we may ask questions about your understanding of safeguarding. This isn’t a test—it’s about making sure we all share the same values and priorities.

Why do we do this?

Because every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and able to thrive. These checks and conversations help us create a secure and welcoming environment for everyone.

If you have any questions about safeguarding or the checks we carry out, please let us know—we’re happy to help.
