The governors of St John Plessington Catholic College are looking to recruit a Maths Academic Tutor.


Key Responsibilities

The post holder will provide targeted mathematics intervention to support pupils who are experiencing difficulties accessing the mathematics curriculum. The primary focus of the role will be to support pupils with foundational mathematical skills and curriculum access. In addition, the post holder will deliver focused support to Year 11 pupils to assist with GCSE Mathematics preparation and attainment.


The main duties and responsibilities will be:


  • Plan and deliver structured mathematics intervention sessions for individuals and small groups.

  • Support Year 7 pupils in developing core mathematical understanding, fluency, and confidence.

  • Deliver targeted GCSE Mathematics support to Year 11 pupils, including revision and exam preparation.

  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

  • Contribute to the identification of learning gaps and the planning of appropriate intervention strategies.

  • Work collaboratively with the Mathematics Department, SENCo, and pastoral staff to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
