Your Role

As Head of Computing at Birley Academy, you will play a vital role in leading a high quality Computing education that enables all pupils to achieve strong outcomes and develop the digital knowledge and skills required for future success. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key leadership role within a committed and ambitious academy. You will join a supportive team where collaboration, professional development and high expectations are central to improvement.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who is passionate and ambitious in committing to making a difference to pupils’ lives through high-quality Computing education. The successful candidate will:

·      Have strong subject knowledge in Computing and the ability to teach to GCSE level.

·      Demonstrate a clear understanding of effective curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment.

·      Have experience of leading or contributing to subject or faculty improvement.

·      Be able to use data effectively to drive pupil progress and raise attainment.

·      Be confident in coaching, supporting and holding colleagues to account.

·      Be committed to inclusive practice and closing gaps in attainment.

·      Be reflective, organised and committed to their own professional development.

·      Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and the wider school community.
