Your Role

Birley Spa Primary Academy, part of L.E.A.D. Academy Trust, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our committed team. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development, helping every child to reach their full potential.


Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom, both individually and in small groups
  • Assisting teachers in preparing and delivering engaging lessons
  • Helping to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and resilience in pupils
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, where required
  • Assisting with classroom organisation and administrative tasks


We are looking for someone who:

Has a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent

  • Has a genuine passion for working with children
  • Is patient, caring, and committed to inclusion
  • Has good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Works well as part of a team and shows initiative

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge of appropriate behaviour management practicesessential
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols essential
Ability to organise classroom resources and assist with the maintenance of pupil records essential
Knowledge of Teaching Assistants’ contribution to raising standards by the promotion of independent learningessential
An appreciation of the National Curriculum and how this is applied to planning, preparation and delivery of learning activities essential
Knowledge and understanding of pupil assessment, progress, evaluation and reporting of attainment essential
Understanding and awareness of individual needs and ability to adjust communication methods accordingly essential
ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues essential
Knowledge of stages of child development and individual needsessential
Knowledge and understanding of the statutory framework in subject areas and phases supportedessential
Well-developed communication skills, both orally and in writingessential
Ability to plan, prepare and deliver a lesson under direction from the teacheressential
Ability to implement programmes planned with colleagues and/or other professionalsessential
Proven experience of working with children and young people, including children with individual needs and from a range of backgroundsessential
Innovative use of resources and materials including ICT software and equipmentessential
Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures that contribute to the maintenance of pupil safety and security

Experience

Direct experience of working with pupils to raise attainment through personal intervention essential
Experience of working with children or young people with SENDessential
Experience of planning and delivering learning activities for group and individual needessential
