Birley Primary Academy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Teaching Assistant (Level 3) with SEN experience to join our supportive and forward-thinking team on a fixed term contract until 31at August 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant school where every child is valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential.


About the Role:


As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  1. Work closely with pupils to support both academic and social development.
  2. Recognise and respond to individual pupil needs to promote inclusion and engagement.
  3. Deliver and review learning activities for individuals and small groups under the guidance of a qualified teacher.
  4. Provide short-term class cover (including PPA), without responsibility for planning and assessment.
  5. Support the implementation of the National Curriculum and the school’s educational programmes.
  6. Encourage pupils to become independent learners and help raise achievement across the school.


You will also play a vital role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils in line with school policies and statutory guidance.


What We’re Looking For:

  1. A committed and enthusiastic individual with relevant Level 3 qualifications.
  2. Experience of working with children in a primary setting.
  3. Experience of working with children with SEN needs.
  4. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  5. Someone who is proactive, patient, and passionate about helping children succeed.

Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English grade 4-9 (A-C) or equivalentessential
TA3 qualification or equivalent or relevant experienceessential
Current First Aid qualification (or willing to work towards)desirable

Understanding and awareness of individual needs and ability to adjust communication methods accordingly essential
ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues essential
Knowledge of stages of child development and individual needsessential
Knowledge and understanding of the statutory framework in subject areas and phases supportedessential
Well-developed communication skills, both orally and in writingessential
Ability to plan, prepare and deliver a lesson under direction from the teacheressential

Proven experience of working with children and young people, including children with individual needs and from a range of backgroundsessential

Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures that contribute to the maintenance of pupil safety and security

Experience

Direct experience of working with pupils to raise attainment through personal intervention essential
Experience of working with children or young people with SENDessential
