Your Role

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and highly motivated Teaching Assistant Level 3 - Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) to join our dedicated Inclusion Team at The Birley Academy. In this rewarding role, you will provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and resilience, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. Working closely with the SENDCo, teaching staff and wider support professionals, you will deliver interventions, promote emotional regulation and independence, and play a vital role in ensuring every young person can thrive in academy life.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a caring, proactive and committed individual who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs. The successful candidate will have experience working with children or young people, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will be patient, resilient and solution-focused, able to maintain high expectations while creating positive and supportive learning environments. A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and helping every pupil achieve their full potential is essential.

Why Join Us

At The Birley Academy, inclusion, wellbeing and student success are at the heart of everything we do. As part of L.E.A.D. Academy Trust, you will benefit from working within a highly supportive team, access to excellent professional development opportunities, and the chance to develop specialist SEMH and SEND expertise. This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people whilst being part of a values-led organisation committed to improving outcomes, fostering professional growth and helping every student succeed.

About Us

At the Birley Academy our vision is simple – we challenge ourselves and each other to be our best selves, demonstrating our school values every day, in all situations.
