Your Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dedicated team. You will work alongside class teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences, provide targeted support to pupils, and help maintain our calm, child-centred environment.

This role will include Breakfast and After School club duties and Lunchtime cover.

St George’s is a joyful, family-friendly Roman Catholic primary school in the heart of York. Rooted in the values of Kindness, Curiosity and Courage, we are dedicated to helping every child “be the best that they can be – together.” With exceptional outdoor spaces, a nurturing atmosphere, and a strong sense of community, our school is a calm and creative oasis for learning.

Catholic schools are welcoming places to pupils and members of staff from all faiths and none. More than a quarter of a million pupils and almost half of teachers in Catholic schools are not of the Catholic Faith.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning across a range of subjects
  • Foster a warm, inclusive and respectful classroom atmosphere
  • Support the implementation of our positive behaviour strategies
  • Uphold and model our school virtues: Kindness, Curiosity, and Courage
  • Work in close partnership with teachers, families and the wider school community

The successful candidate will:

  • Be fully qualified to work in Early years to at least a full and relevant Level 3 qualification
  • Be nurturing, reliable and committed to inclusive education
  • Share our passion for helping every child reach their full potential
  • Be flexible, reflective and eager to learn
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Embrace the values and Catholic ethos of our school (you do not need to be Catholic to apply)

We can offer:

  • Enthusiastic children who are curious, independent learners
  • Excellent personal and professional development opportunities
  • An experienced and talented team of staff with a supportive Governing Body and wider School / Church community
  • The opportunity to be involved in the wider life of our Trust
