We are now looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor so join the team at Notre Dame Catholic Academy.


Responsible for:

The Cover Supervisor will be used for short and long term absences of a teacher. These might be known in advance (for example where a teacher has a medical appointment or is undergoing professional development) or unexpected (for example absence due to illness).

Supervising groups where a teacher is absent/unavailable.

  1. Taking responsibility for teaching groups when a member of staff is on long term sickness.
  2. Covering various subjects at KS3/ KS4 /KS5.
  3. Ensure work is completed by the students to a high standard.
  4. Managing the behaviour of students whilst they are undertaking work to ensure a constructive working environment.
  5. Monitoring the students and making sure they are kept on task and to ensure the quality of work set by departmental personnel is challenging and appropriate.
  6. Managing the work of Learning Support Assistants assigned to the classes.
  7. To invigilate examinations as directed by the Examinations Officer
  8. To deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.
  9. Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
  10. Reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class and any issues arising.
  11. To support the Catholic ethos and share its commitment to provide and monitor opportunities for personal, spiritual and academic growth.
