Do you believe that a great school lunch can make a child’s day? Are you passionate about fresh food, friendly service, and creating a positive experience for children?

At Holy Family Catholic Academy, we know that healthy, nutritious meals play a vital role in helping children learn, grow and thrive. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Cook to join our friendly catering team and help us deliver delicious, high-quality meals that our pupils look forward to every day.

Working in partnership with Food For Thought Merseyside Ltd, a not-for-profit school meals company committed to promoting the wellbeing of children through excellent food, you'll help create a positive dining experience whilst supporting the health and wellbeing of our pupils.

About the Role

As Assistant Cook, you will work alongside our School Cook to:

  1. Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals for our pupils.
  2. Help maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation.
  3. Support menu delivery and the preparation of daily specials.
  4. Assist with stock control, ordering and reducing food waste.
  5. Promote healthy eating and help make lunchtimes enjoyable for every child.
  6. Step into a leadership role when required to cover the School Cook's absence.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

✅ Loves cooking with fresh ingredients.

✅ Takes pride in delivering excellent food and service.

✅ Has knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices.

✅ Works well as part of a team and builds positive relationships.

✅ Is organised, reliable and able to thrive in a busy kitchen environment.

✅ Shares our commitment to supporting children and providing the very best school experience.

Hours and Flexibility

This role is up to 30 hours per week. The advertised salary is based on 30 hours per week, with the normal working pattern being:

8:30am - 1:30pm, Monday to Friday

We understand that flexibility matters and will consider applications from candidates seeking fewer hours. If you're interested in the role but unable to commit to the full 30 hours, we'd still love to hear from you.

Why Join Holy Family?

At Holy Family, you'll be part of a welcoming school community where every member of staff plays an important role in helping children flourish. You'll join a supportive team, work in a rewarding environment, and have the satisfaction of making a real difference to pupils every single day.

If you're ready to bring your passion for food, teamwork and children's wellbeing to our school kitchen, we'd be delighted to receive your application.

Come and help us serve more than meals - help us create happy, healthy school days for the children of Holy Family Catholic Academy.
