Your Role

HEADTEACHER

 Pay scale: SLT Leadership Scale L24 - L39 £94,349 - £136,184 per annum

Deadline: 3pm Monday 28th September 2026

Start date: January 2027 (or asap after)

We are delighted to have welcomed The Burgess Hill Academy to Sussex Learning Trust’s family of schools this September. In recent years progress has been made in improving the standards of the academy and outcomes for the pupils. All agree there is much more to do to ensure the academy, and its pupils, achieve their full potential.

We are therefore seeking a Headteacher with drive and determination to lead our academy, at pace, on its’ continuous improvement journey. We are looking for someone with recent successful leadership experience, a proven track record of leading school improvement, demonstrable impact in raising achievement and the ability to successfully support and manage a dedicated staff team. You will be supported by an experienced Executive Principal (0.2fte) of a neighbouring academy who will lead, and work alongside you to facilitate a rapid and sustainable transformation. You will also have access to willing and dedicated Trust leaders and a network of supportive Headteacher colleagues.

We have created a dedicated microsite with further information and links to help you decide whether you have the skill set to be The Burgess Hill Academy’s new Headteacher. We also warmly encourage you to visit the school in person – details of how to book are available on the microsite.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Interviews will be held on Friday 9th and Monday 12th October 2026
