Your Role

Newlyn School are looking for a warm and positive teaching assistant to join our team, who has a calm and nurturing yet aspirational mindset. The appointed candidate will be flexible and willing to engage with all team members across the school, having the hearts of our wonderful learners at the centre of everything we do. They will have a willingness to learn and grow professionally with a deep-rooted desire to champion all children, ensuring they can always be the best they can be; inside and outside of the classroom. We offer a vast array of extra -curricular clubs and personal development opportunities for all children, and a desire to add to this part of our school community is favourable.

We are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant who has experience in supporting high quality teaching and learning opportunities across Early Years and KS1, with a particular interest in making meaningful learning opportunities to ensure all children can engage and progress, irrespective of their starting points or individualised needs. Having an understanding of how to engage with children who require intervention and support is essential in this role; with a view to promoting the value that targeted learning opportunities can play in building knowledge and masterful learners; growing in confidence day by day.

Our recruitment process requires checks including identity, right to work, and an enhanced DBS check with a barred list check for all staff and volunteers. Checks for other roles may include overseas checks for those who have lived abroad, prohibition from teaching checks, and childcare disqualification checks, these will be undertaken for all appropriate roles. This ensures that:

Pre-appointment vetting checks

Where appropriate, details of checks will be held in individuals’ personnel files. We follow requirements and best practice in retaining copies of and the retention of these checks, and they will be recorded within the single central record for the successful candidate, and in line with our data retention policy for all other candidates. All relevant staff (involved in early years’ settings and/or before or after-school care for children under eight) are made aware of the disqualification from childcare guidance and their obligations to disclose to us relevant information that could lead to disqualification.
