Your Role

Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with Mithian School, are seeking to appoint a dynamic, caring, and committed Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Our Key Stage 1 provision is of a high standard, offering excellent teaching, personalised support, and rich learning opportunities for all children. This role presents an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child's educational journey while working as part of a dedicated and supportive team.

Mithian School is situated in a beautiful rural setting close to the city of Truro, benefiting from excellent facilities and access to exceptional outdoor learning environments. Our extensive Wild Area provides unique opportunities for children to develop practical skills, knowledge, resilience, and a strong sense of empathy. We embed Thrive throughout our practice, supporting children to understand and manage their social, emotional, and mental wellbeing, empowering them to develop confidence in themselves and the world around them.

The real strength of our school lies in our people. Staff, children, parents, and governors are proud members of our school community and work together to create a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child can flourish.

We share a strong ethos that promotes high standards of academic achievement alongside a broad, engaging, and hands-on curriculum. We celebrate and nurture the talents, strengths, and interests of all our children, with the aim of developing independent, curious learners who are equipped and inspired to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society.

About You:
The position is a part-time role and will form part of the dedicated Year 2 and Year 3 team (Chapel Porth Class).

The successful candidate will have a child-centred approach and will support the delivery of a creative, inclusive, and challenging curriculum that inspires and motivates children. They will contribute to high-quality teaching and learning, both indoors and outdoors, helping all pupils to achieve their full potential.

Applicants should demonstrate a sound understanding of effective teaching and learning, alongside the ability to support children with additional needs to enable them to access learning successfully. They will be committed to fostering positive relationships and creating an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to thrive.

We are a flourishing and happy school with a strong sense of community and belonging. We are looking to appoint someone who will enhance this further through their enthusiasm, dedication, and passion for placing children at the heart of everything they do.
