Your Role

Two Gates Primary School are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Inclusion Assistant to work with a child in our current Y3 class who has additional needs. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the SENDCO and class teacher to implement EHCP recommendations and approaches. Whilst you will assist the teacher in the preparation of lessons and resources, the child will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child, you are committed to supporting individuals to reach their full potential and are prepared to put their needs first.

This is a role that will make a significant difference to the child’s experience of school, their educational opportunities and progress. This position will ultimately be rewarding and allow you to develop your skills and understanding of how best to support children with additional needs to achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

  1. Provide pastoral support and assist with personal, health, and welfare needs.
  2. Deliver structured learning support and help implement EHCs, behaviour, and mentoring plans.
  3. Encourage engagement, social interaction, and participation in activities.
  4. Ensure pupil safety and accompany staff on trips and off-site activities.
  5. Assist with planning, delivering, and monitoring learning activities.
  6. Support the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans (EHCs).
  7. Help maintain classroom discipline and provide feedback on pupil progress.
  8. Offer administrative support, prepare resources, and supervise curriculum and extracurricular activities.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and contribute to a positive school environment.
  4. Experience in supporting pupils with additional needs is desirable
