Your Role

Slade Primary School is seeking a committed, enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and can provide high-quality classroom supervision, ensuring pupils continue to learn and thrive when their teacher is absent. Whether you are considering a future career in teaching or have experience working with children in an educational setting, we would love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

  1. Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring pupils remain engaged in their learning.
  2. Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities across a range of year groups.
  3. Create a calm, positive and purposeful learning environment where pupils feel supported and motivated.
  4. Manage behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
  5. Provide feedback to teachers on pupil engagement, progress and any issues arising during lessons.
  6. Support the wider life of the school as part of a collaborative and dedicated staff team.

We are looking for someone who

  1. Has experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally within a school setting.
  2. Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Is confident leading groups of children and can build positive relationships quickly.
  4. Can adapt to different classrooms and respond positively to changing priorities.
  5. Has high expectations of behaviour, learning and achievement.
  6. Is organised, resilient and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  7. Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
