Your Role

Nether Stowe School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and ambitious team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting students and ensuring they continue to make progress when their usual teacher is unavailable. The successful candidate will supervise classes across the school, maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring students remain engaged with their work.

Key responsibilities

  1. Supervising classes in the absence of the usual classroom teacher, ensuring students complete the work provided.
  2. Creating and maintaining a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
  3. Providing clear instructions and support to students to enable them to complete their learning independently.
  4. Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations.
  5. Monitoring student engagement and progress and providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.
  6. Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and colleagues across the school to support student achievement and wellbeing.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Has experience of working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
  2. Has high expectations of student behaviour, engagement and achievement.
  3. Can establish positive and professional relationships with students.
  4. Is confident managing groups of students and maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment.
  5. Has good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
  6. Is adaptable, reliable and able to respond positively to changing priorities.
  7. Is committed to supporting students to achieve their full potential.
