The successful candidate will build positive relationships with pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and reach their full potential.

We are looking for someone who is approachable, patient and empathetic, with the ability to understand individual needs and provide tailored support to help every child thrive.

About the Role

As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with pupils, teachers and families to identify barriers to learning and provide appropriate support. You will help children develop positive attitudes towards learning, build resilience and improve their social, emotional and behavioural skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Build trusting relationships with pupils, providing guidance, encouragement and support.
  2. Identify barriers to learning and help pupils develop strategies to overcome them.
  3. Provide individual and small-group support to improve engagement, confidence and progress.
  4. Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development.
  5. Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to monitor pupil progress and wellbeing.
  6. Contribute to support plans and maintain accurate records of interventions and progress.
  7. Communicate effectively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where appropriate.
  8. Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and a safe, supportive learning environment.
  9. Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all children.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  1. Has experience of working with children and supporting their learning, wellbeing or personal development.
  2. Can build positive, trusting relationships with children from a range of backgrounds and with differing needs.
  3. Demonstrates patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
  4. Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Can encourage positive behaviour, resilience and independence.
  6. Works effectively as part of a team and communicates well with colleagues and families.
  7. Is organised, proactive and able to use their initiative.
  8. Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

We offer

  1. A supportive and enthusiastic team.
  2. A school community committed to the wellbeing and enjoyment of its pupils.
  3. A busy and rewarding environment where you can make a real difference.
  4. Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and employee benefits.
  5. A competitive pension scheme through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
  6. Opportunities for professional development and wellbeing days
