This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing, providing tailored assistance to meet individual needs. The role includes a Special Educational Needs (SEN) allowance, recognising the additional responsibilities involved in supporting pupils with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.

  3. Provide tailored support for pupils with special educational needs, adapting approaches to meet their individual requirements.
  4. Promote positive behaviour, independence and confidence in learning.
  5. Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  6. Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development.
  7. Monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback to teachers on their achievements and any concerns.
  8. Assist with preparing classroom resources and maintaining an organised learning environment.
  9. Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  1. Holds a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience appropriate to the level of the role.
  2. Has experience supporting children or young people in an educational setting, ideally including pupils with additional needs.
  3. Demonstrates patience, empathy and a positive, nurturing approach.
  4. Can build trusting relationships with pupils and communicate effectively with staff and families.
  5. Is adaptable and able to respond to individual learning and behavioural needs.
  6. Works well as part of a team and uses initiative when appropriate.
  7. Is committed to inclusion and helping every pupil achieve their potential.

What We Can Offer

  1. The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils' learning and development.
  2. A supportive and enthusiastic team.
  3. A rewarding school environment where pupil wellbeing and achievement are at the heart of everything we do.
  4. An SEN allowance in recognition of the additional responsibilities associated with the role.
  5. Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and a range of employee benefits.
  6. Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  7. Opportunities for professional development and wellbeing days.
