Your Role

The Canterbury Academy Trust is looking to recruit a talented individual as Teaching Assistant at our Primary provision to support our students with their classroom learning.

  1. Contract hours: 32.5 hours per week Mon - Fri (8.30am – 3.30pm), Term Time only + 5 Development days.
  2. Contract period: 12 months Fixed Term
  3. Salary: WWF Band B FTE £26,822 per annum (Actual Pay Range pro-rota to hours and weeks worked £20,444.90)

There may also be the opportunity to have separate contracts for our popular Breakfast and/or Afterschool clubs, these would be discussed at interview.

We are seeking enthusiastic, caring, reliable and flexible members of staff to support students both within class promoting independent learning, and in small groups delivering interventions outside the classroom or with children with additional educational needs

Applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of good literacy and numeracy skills to enable them to communicate effectively with staff and students and provide effective and sensitive support.

Experience of working with children and young people in a school or learning environment is preferred and applicants must be familiar with child development and be able to respond to the needs of individual students.

Specific Duties:

  1. Assist with the implementation of planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils’ responses as appropriate
  2. Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour
  3. Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress/activities
  4. Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher
  5. Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher
  6. Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
  7. Share information about pupils with other staff, parents / carers, internal and external agencies, as appropriate
  8. Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils as required.
  9. To be an ambassador for The Canterbury Academy Trust
