Your Role

The Dean Trust is seeking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor (FTC) to join our dedicated team at Dean Trust Wigan.


The core purpose of the role will be to lead and supervise lessons to classes in different subject areas during any absence of teachers. The post holder will deliver lessons as provided by the absent teacher and the primary focus of the role will be to ensure effective progress of pupil learning is maintained during the absence whilst establishing an atmosphere in the classroom conductive to effective leanring.


Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure the School's Teaching and Learning protocols are followed in all cover lessons and pupils settle quickly to their learning activities.
  • To ensure students follow activities and lesson plans that have been set by absent teaching staff and when required to set appropriate work for pupils at their current stage of learning.
  • To manage the behaviour of students whilst they undertake the work that has been set and report any behaviour issues using the school's procedures.
  • To quickly establish effective working relationships with all groups of pupils taught.
  • To support and guide pupils in lessons with their progress in tasks set.
