A small school with a big heart! Hawkchurch CofE Primary School, our lovely village school is situated in beautiful east Devon, on the Somerset and Dorset border. Our rural location makes for an excellent learning environment, where everyone matters.

The role will require you to:

•        Hold a level 3 childcare qualification

•        provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children in the setting.

•        work as part of a team, alongside the EYFS Teacher, in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn.

•        build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met.


The position is for 32.5 hours per week

Term time only (38 weeks per year)

Qualifications

Level 3 Early Years qualification or equivalent

Demonstrate an understanding of children's development and needsessential

Able to interact positively with a group of children or on a one-to-one basisessential

Able to use ICT equipment e.g. iPads, Chromebooksessential

Good literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to at least level 2 of the National Qualifications Frameworkessential
Understanding and experience of managing food hygiene and physical hygiene in a nursery setting
Awareness of school policies and procedures relating to Child Protection, Health & Safety and Data Protection
Good knowledge of the primary national curriculum
Able to undertake structured and agreed learning activities, adjusting activities according to pupil's responses as well as working on own initiative
Understanding of the 17 ELGs
Understanding of the requirements of the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage'

Experience

Experience of working with and caring for young childrenessential
Experience of working in a school or educational settingessential
Recent experience of working in a nursery or pre-school setting
Experience of planning and delivering learning activities
