As our Food Technology Teacher, you will teach across Key Stage 2, 3 and 4, helping learners develop practical life skills, confidence and independence alongside subject knowledge. You will play a key role in preparing our younger pupils for successful transitions, supporting learners to close gaps in learning and enabling them to discover talents and interests that can shape their futures. At Key Stages 3 and 4, you will deliver engaging and ambitious learning experiences that lead to appropriate qualifications and meaningful next steps.

Our learners love to be in our kitchens. They find it exciting, productive and therapeutic. Teaching Food technology here at Woodlands is more than enabling learners to gain qualifications; it is about preparing for next steps and feeling successful and productive. Cooking and baking for others is a way of building positive relkationships and learnibng how to interact with others.

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, positive in the face of challenge and able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people. You will understand that progress can look different for every learner and be committed to celebrating every success, whether that is achieving a qualification, building confidence, improving attendance or simply taking the next step in their educational journey.

Above all, you will share our belief that every young person can succeed with the right support, high expectations and genuine care.

1. Have expert knowledge of the Food Technology curricula.
2. The skills to teach across a range of subjects.
3. Understand that personal development is more than just what happens in the classroom
4. Believe in the power of Cultural Capital and the enrichment curriculum to close the gaps, inspire children and young people, and enhance the learning experience for all.
5. Inspire young people to have high aspirations for their working lives, and the skills and knowledge to achieve those ambitions
6. Be an inspirational teacher with passion, drive, and a commitment to consistently deliver outstanding teaching.  
7. Have the patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations with a supportive, nurturing ethos, never losing sight of the child at the centre of your practice.
8. Be flexible and open to change.  
9. Be able to develop a flexible range of teaching strategies and have relevant experience in SEND provision.  
10. Understand that students take individual and multiple pathways in their learning and committed to doing the best by the children or young people that they work with.
