We are seeking a dedicated Home School Link Worker to join Fitzwaryn School in a pivotal role, offering the chance to make a lasting difference to the lives of children and their families by building strong relationships, embedding a robust safeguarding culture, and ensuring the very best outcomes for every young person in our care. This role has been created due to the expansion of the school into a satellite provision.
As a member of the safeguarding team, you will support our DSL and current HSLW with all aspects of family support and safeguarding. The role will involve direct work with pupils and their families to improve their lives and ensure our pupils are safe. The role will also involve representing the school at multi-agency meetings.
Fitzwaryn is an outstanding special school for children and young people from 3 – 19 years old whose Special Educational Needs range from Moderate Learning Difficulties through to profound and multiple learning difficulties.

About the Role
- Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead, (DSL) in ensuring that every pupil is safe, supported, and able to engage in education.
- Work directly with families, staff and children.
- Provide direct case work with students and families to improve attendance and remove barriers to learning.
- Act as a point of contact for day-to-day safeguarding concerns at the satellite provision, escalating appropriately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Provide timely, sensitive support to pupils and families, ensuring their voices are heard and acted upon.
- Monitor and record safeguarding information accurately and securely using school systems.
- Support the DSL with the completion of safeguarding referrals and liaison with children’s social care and other agencies.
- Contribute to the maintenance, organisation and compliance of safeguarding files.
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture across the school including at the satellite host school through daily visibility and consistent practice.
What We’re Looking For
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4-9 or equivalent)
- Degree (desirable).
- Experience of managing safeguarding in a school or other relevant organisation, including building relationships with children and their parents, particularly the most vulnerable and working effectively with relevant agencies
- Excellent record keeping skills and attention to detail, to produce reports, take minutes of meetings, and document safeguarding concerns
- Experience in a special school, or mainstream school supporting pupils with SEND
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and proactively and prioritise effectively under pressure
- Good IT skills and understanding of safeguarding procedures.
