Your Role

Dear Prospective Candidate,

Devonshire Primary Academy wishes to appoint a temporary Additional Needs Teaching Assistant (ANTA) at Level 3 to support a Class Teacher and contribute to the successful running of our KS1 SEND Provision.

The Bumblebees KS1 SEND Provision provides a dedicated learning environment for a small number of Key Stage 1 pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with a particular focus on cognition and learning needs. The provision operates as a nurturing classroom with continuous provision opportunities that support children’s individual developmental stages. Pupils access a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is carefully aligned to the National Curriculum while meeting their specific learning needs. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of speech, language and communication skills, enabling children to build confidence and engage successfully in their learning. Staff work closely with each child to support the outcomes identified in their EHCP and to plan personalised next steps that promote progress, independence and achievement.

In addition to supporting these children, the candidate appointed must be flexible and respond to the needs of the wider team as appropriate and as instructed by their Line Manager.

The successful candidate will be passionate, innovative and flexible and want to make a difference to the lives of our children. They will fully engage children in their learning and make a positive contribution to the delivery of quality learning experiences for the children they work with. The successful candidate must have relevant primary school experience and be able to demonstrate an understanding of children’s educational development throughout the relevant age range. We would be interested to hear of previous experience in a similar role, as well as any curricular strengths or areas of expertise/interest.

At Devonshire Primary Academy, every child is important and everyone is treated as an individual. We place great emphasis on our ability to provide a secure, caring and welcoming environment in which everyone has pride in themselves and strives to achieve the highest possible standard of learning, behaviour and attitudes. We endeavour to ensure that all children leave our care with a love of education and with the building blocks they need to become confident, life-long learners.

Our dedicated staff, parents and governors all work together as a team to make Devonshire Primary Academy the best environment for our children to thrive.

We are inviting applications from candidates who have a relevant Level 3 qualification and who can:

  1. Support the Class Teacher in setting up and delivering activities within the setting
  2. Contribute to the planning and delivery of activities aligned with IEP and EHCP targets;
  3. Demonstrate a strong understanding of how to effectively support children with SEND;
  4. Demonstrate high expectations of themselves and for pupil achievement;
  5. Demonstrate the ability to motivate and inspire pupils;
  6. Demonstrate a warm and friendly personality;
  7. Demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills;
  8. Support the SEND team in professional meetings;
  9. Liaise with parents and carers on a daily basis;
  10. Demonstrate professional flexibility; and
  11. Demonstrate resilience and embrace school improvement with passion and vigour, knowing that learners are at the heart of everything that we do.

Devonshire Primary Academy is a happy, exciting and productive school with a wealth of opportunities for our children and staff. We can offer you:

  1. The chance to be part of a closely connected, dedicated and hardworking staff;

  9. The option to purchase a new bicycle and cycling equipment via salary sacrifice making tax and national insurance savings; and
  10. The opportunity to work in a school which is at the heart of its community and always looking for innovative ways to provide the best education.

As the academy is currently closed for the summer holiday period, unfortunately we are unable to offer visits at this time. In the meantime, we invite you to peruse our school website: https://www.devonshire.blackpool.sch.uk/ and our Facebook Page: Devonshire Primary Academy to gain an insight into our wonderful school.

The closing date for applications is Thursday 6th August 2026 at 9:00am and interviews are currently scheduled to take place on Thursday 13th August 2026.

The successful candidate must be available to attend the academy at 9:00am on Friday 14th August 2026 to complete all pre-employment, HR and payroll documentation and to take part in an induction meeting with the Business Lead.
