This is a permanent, term-time only position, working 8 hours and 20 minutes per week (11:40 – 13:20, Monday to Friday), starting Monday 30th November 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

This role is based entirely within our school dining hall and involves supporting children throughout the lunchtime period. Duties include:

  2. Encouraging children to make healthy choices and develop good table manners;
  3. Assisting younger children with cutting food and opening packaging where required;
  4. Promoting positive behaviour and ensuring a calm, safe dining environment;
  5. Responding appropriately to minor incidents, accidents and spillages;
  6. Cleaning and sanitising tables between sittings;
  7. Sweeping floors and helping to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene;
  8. Following health and safety procedures and supporting safeguarding responsibilities.

We are looking for someone who:

  1. Has high personal and professional standards;
  2. Is enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking;
  3. Works well as part of a team;
  4. Enjoys working directly with children;
  5. Is happy carrying out practical cleaning and housekeeping duties within the dining hall environment;
  6. Can remain calm, patient and positive when supporting pupils;
  7. Is committed to creating a safe, caring and hygienic environment for children during lunchtime.

At Devonshire Primary Academy, we pride ourselves on being a happy, inclusive and forward-thinking school. We offer:

  1. A welcoming and supportive staff team;
  2. Opportunities for professional development;
  3. A strong commitment to staff wellbeing – we are proud signatories of the DfE Wellbeing Charter and were named Active Workplace of the Year 2023 at the Active Lives Community Awards;
  4. A fair and consistent approach to staff absence;
  5. Term-time employment, allowing you to enjoy school holidays with family;
  6. Pension scheme enrolment with generous employer contributions;
  7. Free onsite parking;
  8. Access to a cycle-to-work scheme;
  9. The chance to work in a school that is deeply rooted in its community and always striving for excellence.
